Obiter receives quite a few emails about solicitors performing sponsored bike rides and sponsored swims. But this is the first time we have learnt of a lawyer doing both at the same time. David Thomas, a consultant at Bindman & Partners, was happily performing a 400-mile bike ride around the main children’s hospitals in England, raising money for World Child Cancer, when the next thing he knew he was enjoying a lovely swim in the Banbury-Oxford canal. Details of exactly how the mishap occurred are sketchy, but Thomas reckons he took the unscheduled dip ‘to amuse those cycling with me, of course’. And no doubt it did just that.
