Who said the death penalty wasn’t funny? Trained solicitor and Irish comic Keith Farnan will be telling some dead funny jokes as part of his one-man comedy act about the death penalty.
In Cruel and Unusual, Farnan’s stand-up show tells his story from law school in Ireland to the Innocence Project in New York, working on death row appeals. The show also covers his meeting with Sister Helen Prejean, whose story was the basis of the film Dead Man Walking, and his visit to a public defender’s office in Georgia.
The event, supported by Reprieve, aims to raise awareness about the work being done for people facing the death penalty and for other human rights violations around the world. The shows take place from 11-15 November at the Hen and Chickens Theatre, Highbury, north London. Tickets cost £10, with all proceeds going to Reprieve.
