Difference of opinion
There appeared to be no meeting of minds when Legal Services Complaints Commissioner Zahida Manzoor attended last week's board meeting of the Legal Complaints Service (LCS). Where the board talked about 'fantastic achievement', Ms Manzoor could only 'reserve judgement' - while at the same time managing to include the word 'failure' seven times in her presentation. The division of the Law Society into three separate bodies also seemed to have passed her by. She consistently referred to the LCS as the 'Law Society' and was unimpressed when reminded that the whole point of the re-branding was to distance complaints handling from the representative body. One board member suggested she might take a leaf from the teachers' book and praise five times for every once she criticised. The suggestion was not taken up.
