More news of sporting prowess in the solicitors' profession. Louise Clowes, who works at niche minerals and environmental law firm Bowcock Cuerden in Cheshire, has been selected for the British team at the Duathlon World Championship in Gyor, Hungary later this month.

Obiter has profiled Ms Clowes before, as she recovered from a serious car accident - when she broke her back - to appear just 12 months later in the UK Ironman 2006 event. At the world championships, she will do two 15km runs with a 40km cycle in between. She is not predicting a spot on the podium, however. 'I have very realistic aims for Gyor, which are simply to race my best and get over the finish line with a smile (or grimace) on my face,' she reports.
