Not one of the 36,000 solicitors who were overcharged on their 2006/07 contributions to the Compensation Fund managed to notice that they had paid too much - or at any rate, they did not bother complaining to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) about it, the authority tells us. Is this, Obiter wonders, because they have so much money rolling in during these economic good times that they wouldn't notice a piffling £50 here, or a measly £100 there? Or are they simply too trusting for their own good?
Whatever the explanation, the SRA is working hard to return the money in the most cost-effective manner possible - not that anyone is likely to notice.
