More from the elusive Mr X, a major critic of the legal aid system in his reply to the Gazette's annual legal aid survey (see [2005] Gazette, 17 March, 12) Mr X has apparently taken umbrage over our suggestion that he was 'angry' following his accusations that the Legal Services Commission (LSC) was acting in a fashion that would not be out of place in George Orwell's 1984. 'As the LSC has now broken my spirit, I am not angry, just paranoid,' he protested. 'Although, as one psychiatrist once commented in a report on a client, "if people are really out to get you, you are not paranoid".'' We should point out that we have also taken heed of his final request: 'When you have read this note, please eat it.' Whoever you are, Mr X, the Gazette team looks forward to dining on your future correspondence...
