A new direction for Obiter's festival of lawyers and motorsport. Vaughan Fullagar (above) of Fullagar Brooks in Swindon says that while he cannot compete with the racing exploits of previous contributors, he can when it comes to the number of vehicles he owns.
His motorbikes include a Kawasaki ZX12R, a Triumph Sprint RS, a Ducati Monster, a Moto Guzzi Sport 1100, a Yamaha FJ 1200, a Honda CBR 600 track bike, and a Honda CB250RS 'plus six assorted monkey bikes and mopeds'.
But that's not all - his cars include a Porsche 911, a Porsche 944 S2, a Cobra, a Westfield track-day car, a Chevy C10 pick-up, a Riley 1.5, two MG Midgets and a Marina pick-up, 'plus a Saab for the odd day-to-day running around'.
Mr Fullagar admits that this is a 'scattergun approach to transport', explaining that he goes for older cars and hopes that at least two or three of them are working at any one time. For environmentalists out there, close to collapse at his stable of vehicles, he says he rides his bike every day, thus keeping his carbon footprint under control.
Finally, he puts himself forward as the fastest solicitor, based on a trip to the track at Bruntingthorpe where - riding the Kawaski ZX12R - he managed to get the speedo reading to 210mph. However, the bike is artificially limited to 186mph, so he believes the speed was around that figure.
Mr Fullagar does have a confession to make, though. Lapping the Nurburgring in Germany in June, he went into one turn 30mph too fast, crashed (with £2,000 damage to his brother-in-law's bike - remarkably, he wasn't riding one of his own) and broke his collarbone. Dented ego aside, he plans to return there in the summer to make amends.
