It seems Yorkshire’s Three Peaks have been overrun with lawyers recently, with around 70 of them taking part in LawNet’s Three Peaks challenge, which has raised £20,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. The speediest solicitors were from Overburys in Norwich, with their team racing round in just 8hrs 45mins, though it proved more of an uphill struggle for Andrew & Co in Lincoln, whose second team came in last in 13hrs 19mins. Perhaps their hiking boots were more difficult to do up.
Meanwhile five solicitors from Cripps in Yorkshire have also just climbed the peaks: Steve Ellis; Mike Vos; Beth Gascoyne; Guy Fernback (pictured, l-r); and Ben Johnston. The eventful trip saw a hapless Johnston duelling with a raging bull, dancing with a frisky sheep and having ‘walkies’ with a friendly sheep dog (if these sound like tall stories, we are assured there is photographic evidence on his mobile phone). All that before encountering a boggy stretch towards the Ribblesdale Viaduct, when the trusting Johnston followed Vos’s advice to ‘just keep walking’, and managed to get both feet soaked while his trousers enjoyed a good splattering. Still, at least Johnston did not descend the final peak with nothing to show for his exertions. Apparently he is sporting a very impressive set of blisters.
