The number of legal awards ceremonies just seems to grow and grow - what chance the legal awards ceremonies awards? - and there can hardly be a firm out there that has not picked up one gong or other.
Nevertheless, there are some prizes it arguably might be better not to win. A cracking example of this came at a recent legal IT awards at a swanky Park Lane hotel in London, when the time came to announce the award for the 'outsourcing/offshoring project of the year'. It had been mentioned at Obiter's table earlier that, perhaps, no law firm would really want to be known for this award.
When the moment came, the compère gleefully announced the winner of the award 'for basically sending the economy to India' was Allen & Overy, whose team collected their prize to the tune of 'Give me all your lovin'' by ZZ Top.
