David Mosey is not the only solicitor to be involved in a shameless publicity stunt this week (see Mott on the landscape). Jeanette Miller, co-founder of Manchester firm Geoffrey Miller, gave staff a surprise earlier this month when she asked them to put on gags and go out into the street on the first day of the Tory party conference. Paralegal Francesca Griffiths (right) went a step further and braved the cold to don a lady liberty costume, while administration manager Sarah Ball dressed (presumably) as a defendant.

Miller, who is also president of the Association of Motor Offence Lawyers, and her staff were handing out leaflets to conference visitors to draw public and political attention to her petition against proposals to limit costs recovery in legal aid. The petition is running until 7 November on the Downing Street website and has nearly 16,000 signatures so far. And counting.
