Whoever said law isn't all fun and games? One of the sadder members of the Obiter crew recently discovered a shop specialising in board games where, hidden among the more well-known offerings, was the prison-themed 'Incarceration'. Partly responsible, apparently, was City firm Denton Wilde Sapte. Former Dentons press officer Sean Twomey - who is named on the back of the box containing the game but has since moved on to be head of public relations at Norton Rose - explained that ex-lags contacted the firm asking for pro bono advice on the basis that the game was in the public interest. 'We talked through the benefits of educating children against a life of crime,' he explains. In-depth research has revealed that there are other legal games on the market - 'So Sue Me', 'Simply Suspects' and 'Judge for Yourself'. What comes next, Obiter wonders? A Scrabble for deals? Or would that be too much of a Risk, creating the chance of a Monopoly in the legal market? Might the criminal defence fraternity relish the challenge of a lesser-known game called 'Pass the Pigs'? We really wouldn't have a Cluedo ...
