When Sir David Clementi published his long-awaited report into legal services last month, there was a stampede to comment on his recommendations. One of the quickest off the blocks was the Law Society of Scotland, which rushed 'to clarify that the Clementi report is specific to England and Wales only'. It sniffed: 'Scotland not only has a separate system but also regulates the legal profession in a different way.'
