Good news from the new Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA - controversially pronounced 'soccer' rather than 'so-ca'): it has rolled out its facility for the on-line submission of suspicious activity reports. The bad news, and we thank anti-money laundering consultant David Winch for pointing this out, is that you are unable to use this facility. Why? Because you are not a registered user. As instructed by Mr Winch, we last week logged onto the Web site (www.soca.gov.uk) and headed for the registration page. We entered our details to become a registered user but were informed that this had failed because, erm, we were not a registered user. So to become a registered user, you have to be a registered user. Let us hope that as the teething problems fade, SOCA becomes a little more user-friendly.
