Generally, law firms seeking sports sponsorship opportunities look for ones that say something nice and positive about their brand - that they are vibrant, winners, speedy, that kind of thing. However, London and home counties firm Penningtons has chosen a somewhat riskier course - but an admirable and patriotic one - by aligning itself with the England one-day cricket captain, Paul Collingwood, who is displaying the firm's logo on his bat during the test and one-day series against India. It didn't start all that well - Collingwood lasted just six balls in the two innings of the first test combined - but has got gradually better since and played his part in this week's rearguard action. Surely with the power of the legal profession behind him, and England's woeful recent one-day record, things can only get better?
