Obiter has decided to launch a campaign for lawyers to cheer up. The reason for this is that the legal profession only came 27th in the 2006 happiness survey by City and Guilds, down from 23rd the year before. Of the academic professions, only pharmacists were gloomier.
For those looking to chuck it all in, it is probably worth knowing which workers are the happiest. According to the survey, your best bet is to become a beautician - perhaps one targeting law firms that are keen to improve the look of their would-be rainmakers. Alternatively, you could join the clergy - the clear winner for the academic professions - and pray for the souls of your former colleagues.
