Last year's Law Society advertising campaign 'My Hero, My Solicitor' - designed to win over a sceptical public about the good that solicitors do in society - used models for its posters. There is no news yet as to whether or not the pilot will be rolled out nationally, but if it is, then Chancery Lane could do a lot worse than call up 28-year-old solicitor Andy Shaw, who works at Higgs & Co in Stourbridge in the West Midlands. Mr Shaw recently witnessed a knife-carrying assailant attacking an elderly lady on the mean streets of Wolverhampton. He gave chase and caught up with the thief, who had been trying to snatch the old dear's handbag, in a nearby industrial estate. Helped by another passer-by, Mr Shaw restrained the attacker until the police arrived. Our have-a-go personal injury specialist - who modestly says he didn't think what he did was particularly brave, 'just instinctive' - has now been nominated for a civic award.
