Light years away: A slap on the wrist for the Gazette following our recent story on protest action taken by criminal law solicitors in Sunderland over implementation of the means-testing scheme (see [2006] Gazette, 16 November, 3).


A couple of eagle-eyed readers pointed out that the accompanying picture was of cranes and shipyards. It may come as a shock to those in the south of the country, but these structures - along with the coal mines - have long gone.



The riverside now consists of a university campus and halls of residence, luxury flats, offices and the Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland football club. So as a public service to our readers, we are happy to bring them up to date with this more progressive image of the city.
