Perhaps the final entry in our 'Lawyers and their boats' competition comes from Nottingham solicitor John Pearce, the proud owner of the good ship Bramble (pictured below) since 1990. Bramble was built in 1900, which may not make her the oldest boat we have featured - that record stands at 1892 - but she does have a steeple compound steam engine that was manufactured in 1886. Built by Simpson & Denison of Dartmouth, the engine is possibly the last of its kind in existence. Bramble is moored on the canal in Nottingham and can sleep two people and carry eight passengers. However, she is only part of Mr Pearce's wider collection of five vintage tractors, a 1939 Cadillac and a Green Goddess fire engine.
