Staff from the Manchester office of national firm Simpson Millar are setting out once again to prove that big is beautiful – if it not necessarily fast. They are donning sumo suits to wobble along the tarmac in the 10k Bupa Great Manchester Run on 17 May, to raise £2,000 for the Communications Workers Union Humanitarian Aid charity. The charity, set up in 1995, provides aid to vulnerable children throughout the world. The team is made up of solicitor Ruth Magee, trainee solicitor James Blower, associate Gary Tierney, legal executive Lisa Wright and Tony Rupa, head of legal services at the Communication Workers Union. Wright (pictured middle with Blower and Magee), says: ‘We came up with the idea of running in sumo suits last year so we’d stand out from the crowd and have an excuse not actually to have to race. We’re sticking to that principle again this year.’
