The Law Society launched a controversial advertising campaign last year with the tag line 'My hero, my solicitor'. If it is thinking of rolling out the pilot nationally, then perhaps Chancery Lane should consider asking monocled former world middleweight boxing champion Chris Eubank (below) to front it. Mr Eubank had been planning to represent himself at Brighton Magistrates' Court last week on charges of aggravated taking of a vehicle and driving away. The charges had been brought after he had allegedly commandeered a delivery lorry that was blocking the road when he was driving his children to school in Brighton. When the magistrates' clerk told Mr Eubank he could face a 12-month driving ban, however, he nipped out of the court pronto and collared a handy solicitor. The lawyer persuaded the magistrates to adjourn the case for two weeks. Asked why he hadn't taken legal advice in the first place, Mr Eubank reportedly told assembled hacks: 'I didn't think I had done anything wrong - I was doing the community a service.'
