We recently decided to bring Obiter's long-running 'Lawyer and their boats' theme to an end - not before time, the flaky landlubbers would say - but we are prepared to make an honourable exception. Mike Trippitt, a partner at Cambridgeshire firm Copleys and a keen sailor, has written in to tell us about The Armchair Sailing Club, a charitable trust he was inspired to set up by the Global Challenge (see [2005] Gazette, 29 September, 12 for a report on the solicitor participants). The trust's objective is to raise money to provide sailing opportunities for the disabled or disadvantaged up to the age of 25. For information, go to www.armchairsailingclub.com. The aim is to become the largest (by number of members) 'sailing' club in the world, with membership comprising an annual donation of a minimum of £10.
