Following the news that conveyancing and probate solicitor Geoff Gafford plans to take 10 weeks off work to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, Elizabeth Norman of north London firm CLC, tells us she’s planning the same journey at a faster pace. Norman is an immigration practitioner who has just gained higher rights, so can manage to take only six days off to complete the 900-mile cycle ride from one end of mainland Britain to the other. Norman is taking part in the Race Against Time, which involves pedalling some 150 miles a day. She hopes to raise £2,000 for the Bishop Simeon Trust, which supports community-based initiatives in South Africa focusing on education, training and welfare. ‘Each day we’ll cycle further than the longest stretch of the Tour de France. It’ll be a real challenge,’ she says. Obiter wishes her well: perhaps she’ll give Gafford a wave as she whizzes past.
