Few firms can claim to have achieved a genuine 'first' in the world of law but London-based Collyer-Bristow has surely done just that by being the first law firm to have a painting of a woman's naked body projected above its front door. 'Passers-by not lucky enough to have an invitation to the coolest legal event of the week, the opening of the Collyer-Bristow Gallery, were treated to their very own private view outside 4 Bedford Row,' claimed the press release, which was headlined 'The new Collyer-Bristow gallery opens with a very public private view'. Leaving aside the vexed issue of what constitutes a 'cool' legal event, surely it was a very pubic private view. The painting - called 'Titi 1', which would suggest there are at least two Titis - is by partner and head of insolvency Steven Heffer, a keen artist who has trained at Central St Martins and the Slade School of Fine Art. It forms part of an exhibition called 'The Body' that marks the firm's return to single premises - the other works include a painting simply called 'Standing bum'. The gallery is at 4 Bedford Row, London WC1 and the show runs until 2 December. For more details, see www.collyerbristow.com/gallery.
