It's a bit early to be handing out Obiter's annual awards, but we have just received a powerful entry in the most tenuous attempt to jump on a bandwagon by a law firm 2005 category. 'Arsenal wins the cup!' screams the headline of a press release that has landed on our desk. 'Top club gets Woodfines backing on and off the pitch.' The firm, which is based in Sandy in Bedfordshire, 'added their congratulations to the team after Saturday's nail-biting match.' Arsene Wenger, Thierry Henry et al must be delighted. So what is the connection? Woodfines' commercial property team acted for one of the Kier Group's regional construction teams, which runs Islington Borough Council's housing management department, which - are you all following this at the back? - is being relocated to make way for the club's new stadium. Naturally, our man is 'delighted to have played his part in the stadium's story' before congratulating the team 'on their great win in the FA Cup final'.

Tempting though it is to hand out our much-prized gongs even though we're only half-way through the year, surely it can only be a matter of time before a law firm in Norfolk tries to share the limelight with Rafa Benitez and his Liverpool team.
