Lai Koon, a partner at Bowling & Co in east London, recently won two gold medals with the Great Britain team at the European Nations Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Prague. The women's team - made up of 20 paddlers, one drummer and one helm - took line honours in both the 200 and 500 metre competitions. It was the first time the GB women's team had won the 200 metre event at a major competition. This is Ms Koon's second year racing for Great Britain, though she says it can be hard balancing long office hours and her rigorous training schedule. THis involves training twice a day - starting at 5.30am, and again after work - six days a week. She and her team are already looking forward to next year's world championships in Sydney, and are gunning to raise £50,000 to cover the cost of the trip.
