Glyn Morris, the recently appointed finance director of Black Country firm Higgs & Sons, recently came up with a novel way of motivating the troops, offering up his prized BMW 525 for auction for charity if the 28-partner firm failed to meet its financial targets. Luckily for him, and his son Hugo, the 'Save Glyn's Car' campaign - and, perhaps more likely, a new fees-related performance scheme involving all 169 people at the firm - paid off. It will be interesting to see whether Mr Morris offers up his house for the 2007 targets.
