It is a common joke that few Americans have passports, and that their historical and geographical knowledge is limited to their own country and a few other places regularly in the news. Normally this seems an unfair generalisation, but Obiter has found that in Texas at least, several decades of Irish history are of little import.

According to a press release, the International Legal Technology Association has decided that this side of the Atlantic has finally entered the 21st century in terms of the use of IT in law firms, so it has formed a 'UK Region, the geography of which comprises the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland'.
