The Gazette continues to atone for the sin of describing conveyancing and probate as ‘prosaic’ by featuring your poems on said disciplines. This week probate solicitor Elainne Lawrie, late of collapsed Wirral firm Lees Lloyd Whitley, on ‘dealing with the deceased’:

Property law is prosaic, then’Tis oft and repeatedly saidPerhaps, but its nowhere as peacefulAs preferring to work with the dead

See, dead folks they tend to be quietThey’ve no need for Searches or SPIFSThey don’t care for leases or ground rentsOr whoever last serviced the liftNow, some lawyers they need the excitementOf court, perhaps being on the newsBut PROSAIC as it sounds its a fact thatWhen you’re dead you have nowt else to lose.

Says Elainne: ‘Anyone who is interested in my probate as well as my poetic skills is welcome to ask for my CV on nickpike1963@sky.com.’
