Another entry in our 'Lawyers and their boats' competition and one with a very distinguished history. Mahalia (pictured above) is a 77 ft motor yacht co-owned by Tom Hodge, a litigator with Gotelee & Goldsmith in Ipswich, and his girlfriend Zoe Parmenter, a private client solicitor at another local firm, Kerseys. Mahalia was built in 1915 for exploring the Upper Amazon. In 1939, she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and began the Second World War as a harbour defence craft at Sheerness, before taking part in the evacuation at Dunkirk. The current owners bought Mahalia in 2002, and sailed across the Channel this May as part of the 65th anniversary of the evacuation. Given that the couple also use the boat as their home, could this be our winning entry?
