Our thanks to a correspondent for pointing us towards the partner profiles on north-west firm DWF's website. Each profile is accompanied by a stylish black-and-white photograph of the partner, an office chair and a representation of a particular interest of theirs. There are quite a few accompanied by their children, or their golf clubs, but some are a bit more eye-catching.

Pictured right is the slightly scary-looking James Pinder, who unsurprisingly lists his hobbies in the Q&A accompanying each profile as including shooting and fishing. We were very intrigued by Tom Myles, photographed dangling a carrot on a piece of string in front of a rabbit placed on the office chair. He lists his likes as wine, France, rabbits and (somewhat curiously) conservatories. But under dislikes, he nominates solely 'Land mines'. Hard to disagree - he's clearly a man of many levels. Jon Keeble is pictured with a Darth Vader helmet and lightsaber.

The final question in the Q&A is about the partner's attitude to life, and we were disturbed by Ian McCubbin's gloomy observation: 'Enjoy it. You'll be dead sooner than you think!'

To us, this is all good fun and certainly kept us on the DWF site a lot longer than most law firm websites, but it was clearly too much for Kate Meadowcroft, whose Q&A implies a certain testiness. For example, in reply to 'Specialist areas', she replied accurately, if not terribly informatively, 'Yes'. Hobbies? 'Not really.' Favourite holiday - 'Anywhere away from the office.' And as for dislikes: 'Filling in personal profiles.' But she relented when it came to her attitude to life: 'Buying shoes makes you feel better.'

We heartily recommend www.dwf.co.uk as the gift that keeps on giving, and if you need further incentive to browse the profiles, we can tell you that there is one well-known partner pictured sitting in the chair, with what we are told is a bronze cast of his wife's breasts at his feet.
