Skating on thin ice: we were all set to publish a rather snazzy photograph of some newly promoted associates at a large Birmingham law firm, who for no obvious reason - beyond the headline about 'rising stars getting their skates on' - were pictured wearing ice skates. We would have praised them for bigging up their policy of promoting rather than recruiting, and for trying to make a relatively mundane story a bit more interesting, when we were politely asked to withhold the information because one of the associates has handed in their notice. No doubt some computer genius is now busy trying to Photoshop the offender out of that nice pic. Waste not, want not, after all.
