So we are pleased to bring you some cheerier boxing news, courtesy of City solicitor-turned-pugilist Laura Saperstein. You may recall that erstwhile Freshfields staffer Laura was profiled on these pages last month ahead of her first professional bout. We are delighted to report that she duly outpointed Bulgaria's Borislava Goranova at Tooting Leisure Centre in south London - an achievement which brought her to the attention of legendary fight promoter Frank Warren.
'I wonder who negotiates her contracts?' mused Mr Warren on his blog.
Not Frank, evidently - or, at least, not yet. Who knows what the future might hold? We trust that Freshfields will be chartering a plane to Vegas for Laura's debut at the MGM Grand.
