Clifford Chance, always trying to be at the head of the pack, is trying to redefine, quite literally, the meaning of ADR, to go by a recent press release that marked the appointment of Paris-based partner Jason Fry as secretary-general of the International Chamber of Commerce's International Court of Arbitration. According to the release, ADR is not alternative dispute resolution, but actually 'amicable dispute resolution', which sounds much nicer and certainly marks it out from litigation. Let's hope it catches on.
