Olympic medallists past and present, the ‘I can run faster than you’ marathon runner challenge and young England footballers have all figured in Obiter over recent weeks. But for some, one sport is not enough when you can do three at once (well, sort of).

Competing in this year’s Mazda London Triathlon, three teams of lawyers from City firm Ince, aided by a couple of clients, took on a 400-strong field in the Olympic Team Relay. Just one discipline was required from each participant: a 1.5km swim in Royal Victoria Dock, a 10.4km run at the ExCeL exhibition centre complex or a 42km cycle ride along the outer edges of the Docklands.

According to trainee solicitor (and triathlon cyclist) William Blagbrough, there was a ‘friendly rivalry’ between each of the Ince teams – who, after much sweating, splashing and pedalling, finished a highly respectable 37th, 113th and 137th.

They raised more than £10,000 for charity Concern Worldwide, which fights poverty across the globe.
