Obiter got quite excited by an email headed ‘Matthew Pryke’s Kilimanjaro climb for Honeypot’. Was this someone more dedicated to the pursuit of honey than Winnie the Pooh?
As it turned out, Pryke (pictured, 4th from the left) had a loftier motivation for putting himself through the gruelling 6,000m climb of Africa’s tallest peak. The head of commercial and IP law at West London firm Wallace was part of an eight-strong team which undertook the expedition to raise £30,000 for Honeypot, a charity that provides holidays and support for children aged between five and 12 who act as carers for other family members or are otherwise vulnerable. Pryke started the trip without his luggage, thanks to an airline’s efficiency, and his car broke down on the way to base camp, but it ended in success: ‘My ears got a little black with frostbite, but nothing permanent and nothing fell off.’
