Great news, readers - a solicitor has entered the Guinness Book of World Records. Emma Taylor, a family lawyer at JR Jones in Ealing, West London, was one of 979 scuba divers who last month set a world record for the greatest number of people scuba diving simultaneously at the same location.
The record attempt in the Maldives saw Ms Taylor, pictured above second from the right and behind the bubbles, and her colleagues descend 17 metres to a sand bank between two reefs - which are known to attract giant manta rays - and stay there for ten minutes. This was enough to break the previous record of 722 scuba divers, set in Thailand in February 2005. Some may sniff that this was not an individual record, but Obiter - like the late, great Roy Castle - will hail a legal triumph whatever the circumstances.
