When in Rome: pictured celebrating in the Eternal City are Phil Stephenson (below, right), a partner at Bolton law firm Kippax Beaumont Lewis, and Toby Williamson (middle), a partner in recruitment business G2 Legal. Along with fellow Bolton & District Round Table member Barney Wharton Jones, the duo had just completed the Home To Rome Banger Rally.

The Top Gear-style event sees contestants pay £100 or less for a car to make the trip. Our legal representatives were fortunate to have their motor, a 17-year-old BMW with 191,000 miles on the clock, donated free. Despite the age of the car, they nevertheless completed - dressed in pyjamas, of course - the 2,764 miles from Bolton to the Italian capital over five days.

The rally was in aid of Riders for Health, a charity which pays for doctors in South Africa to reach isolated communities. The Bolton team raised more than £4,000.
