Obiter's continuing search for solicitors with a connection to 'Doctor Who' is hotting up. First we thought we were doing pretty well when Clifford Tibber, a partner at London firm Oury Clark, got in touch to reveal that his son, Clem, had appeared in the most recent series of the show. He was the schoolboy called Milo in the episode 'School Reunion', who manages to shock the Doctor by answering incredibly complex physics questions. Sadly, other scenes he shot for the episode were left on the cutting room floor but, Mr Tibber says, a Milo trading card has been produced nonetheless.
But then we heard from solicitor and Deputy District Judge David Purcell, who raises the bar to a whole new level: he actually appeared in an episode of 'Doctor Who' in the 1976 story, 'The Hand of Fear', playing a character called Abbott. Tom Baker was the incumbent Doctor and Sarah-Jane Smith the companion making her last trip in the Tardis. In a rather neat link (for 'Doctor Who' fans, anyway), Sarah-Jane made a very welcome reappearance 30 years later in 'School Reunion'.
Finally, our search takes us to central London firm Richard Howard & Co, which acts for Experience Design of Shepperton Studios, the organiser and manager of the 'Doctor Who' exhibitions - 'Doctor Who' Up Close' - under licence from BBC Worldwide. Head honcho Richard Howard has been busy with new exhibitions around the country since the series returned to our screens, including the major one in Cardiff, where the programme is filmed. Here he is up close with, in his words, 'unwanted visitors from another jurisdiction' at one of the exhibitions.
