Trampling through the poppy field is Sharon Burris, freshly appointed PR executive at Blakemores in Birmingham. Ms Burris, 36, is a former fashion model and professional show jumper who combines working for the firm with managing the John Paul Sheffield (who he?) professional event riding team. We are told that this involves managing five full-time grooms, 20 event horses (and their owners) and a professional event rider in international competition. Ms Burris signs off with an early candidate for quote of the year: 'Thanks to Blakemores' work-life balance policies I am able to lead a dual career. Life for me is very busy at the moment - if I am not in my stirrups, I'm in my stilettos!'
