We may finally have a winner in our youngest person to qualify as a solicitor-advocate competition. This all started when Hannah Volpe of Bevan Brittan in Bristol wrote in to ask if she had set a record, having achieved her higher rights of audience at the tender age of 26. Now Carla MacLeod, a family law specialist from Needham & James in Birmingham, has contacted us to claim the crown. Her birthday is a month before Hannah's - 14 January 1979 as opposed to 20 February 1979 - but she qualified as a solicitor-advocate on 21 April 2005, at the age of 26 years and 97 days. However, can she really be the youngest ever to qualify? Can you do better?
