Wakefield Hospice is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020 and is asking supporters to pledge a gift in their Wills this year to help care for local families in the future.

Since it opened in April 1990 the hospice has supported thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses through its inpatient ward, Day Therapy unit and bereavement support service.

The hospice’s team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, complementary therapists, an occupational therapist and a social worker looks after the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.

The hospice’s annual running costs are approximately £4m and the vast majority of this comes from fundraising and donations from the local community. Ever since the hospice opened, gifts in Wills have been a vital source of funding. The hospice uses every gift, large or small, with the utmost care.
