David Malone, a prominent human rights and criminal barrister, has left 1 Gray’s Inn Square to join top-ranked criminal and regulatory set Red Lion Chambers (formerly known as 18 Red Lion Court). The former Head of 1 Gray’s Inn Square stepped down from the role earlier this year, after three and a half years.

His high-profile work has seen him called upon by a wide range of national newspapers, TV and radio as a legal media commentator. The leading barrister behind the infamous ‘Sarah’s Case’ (now lodged at the European Court of Human Rights), he has also been supporting a national campaign to protect victims of domestic violence being named in court.

Malone said of his new move: ‘It was the right time to move on and I am very excited to join one of the country’s leading sets with the opportunity to work alongside some of the best barristers at the bar. 1 Gray’s Inn Square Chambers was a sleeping giant - it has since awoken from its slumber with a renewed confidence to seize a bright future – I wish them well.’
