Continuing the trend of strategic recruitment that has been a consistent feature in recent years, Fladgate LLP is delighted to announce the appointment of competition, regulatory and commercial partner Alex Haffner who joins from Dentons.

Alex has significant experience dealing with UK, EU and international competition and regulatory authorities and has been involved in a number of contentious competition and regulatory cases before the courts.

Another key part of Alex’s practice is the provision of regulatory and broader commercial advice to clients in the sports, media and telecoms sector. He is particularly well known for advising on issues relating to the exploitation of sports broadcasting rights, having acted for both major rights holders and broadcasters on such matters.

Charles Wander, chairman, comments: ;We are delighted to be able to extend our competition and regulatory capabilities with Alex’s appointment. His track record of providing regulatory advice to clients within the sports, media and telecoms sectors is a natural fit with our expanding practice in these areas and builds upon the appointment last year of a specialist sports business group from Pinsent Masons headed by James Earl.’

Alex Haffner commented: ’I was attracted by the wealth of experience Fladgate has in the sports, media and telecoms sectors and its reputation for delivering commercially focused and practical solutions to a wide range of legal issues. I am very excited by the opportunities this role presents for me to further develop my competition and regulatory practices.’

Alex is a board member of the Association for Interactive Media and Entertainment (AIME) and is an active member of several other leading industry trade associations, including the British Association for Sport and Law, LawInSport and iSport Connect.
