Howes Percival has expanded its family law team with the appointment of Laura Clay-Harris as a solicitor. Laura joins Howes Percival’s Norwich office from Suffolk-based solicitors, Marshall Hatchick.

Laura has experience in all areas of family law including divorce, separation, financial disputes and proceedings, arrangements for children and cohabitation disputes. She is a member of Resolution and is focused on achieving the best outcome for her clients with a conciliatory approach.

Commenting on the appointment, Amy Walpole, partner in Howes Percival’s family team said: 'We are delighted to welcome Laura to Howes Percival. We have experienced an increase in demand for family law services in the region and while the nature of the work constantly changes, assisting high-net worth individuals in divorce proceedings with complex assets is still the core of our work. In recent years, we’ve also seen a marked increase in cohabiting couples and family businesses seeking advice.

'Couples who live together have less rights in law than married couples, so in addition to cohabitation disputes, we’re seeing a growing number of couples looking to protect themselves and their assets through cohabitation agreements. Equally, we are seeing an increase in pre-nups being considered and drafted for family business owners who recognise that marriage changes the protection of assets.'

Howes Percival’s family law team provides a fully integrated and comprehensive service for high net worth individuals and family businesses. The team works closely with other legal experts within the firm to advise on all aspects of relationships and family matters, including those relating to children, property, family and farming businesses, estates, wills, probate, trusts and pensions.

All Howes Percival family lawyers are members of Resolution, a national organisation of family lawyers and other professionals committed to the constructive resolution of family disputes. Whilst the team will strive to get the best result for clients by agreement, they are also experienced litigators and will represent clients’ interests in Court robustly when necessary.
