Mishcon de Reya has announced that it has hired Filippo Noseda, who joined as a partner in the firm’s private department on 19 June.

Filippo is a dual qualified English solicitor and Swiss lawyer (Rechtsanwalt); he joins the firm after 14 years at Withers LLP, where he was joint head of the European private client and tax department.

Able to approach both common law and civil law issues from a practical perspective, he routinely advises on the establishment and restructuring of both trusts and foundations as well as on UK and international tax and succession planning issues, including family governance and disputes. Filippo also advised a number of governments on the introduction of private foundations’ laws and has successfully lobbied the Swiss government on the recognition of trusts in 2007 (various amendments to ratification bill).

More recently, he appeared as an expert before the Council of Europe and the EU data protection authorities in connection with the introduction of the OECD’s Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and the EU’s Beneficial Ownership Registers.

Commenting on the appointment, James Libson, head of private at Mishcon de Reya, said: ’We are really excited that Filippo is joining us. He is a recognised expert in the fields of international tax planning and comparative law and is a fantastic addition to our team. His experience with international issues complements our client base and will undoubtedly help us and our clients to navigate this unprecedented legal and political landscape.’

Filippo added, ’I am thrilled to join Mishcon de Reya. Having helped build the comparative law capabilities at my previous firm, today’s appointment will enable me to focus on my core areas as part of a dynamic and well run multi-disciplinary firm. We are faced with some of the defining questions of our generation and Mishcon de Reya’s exceptional reputation will play an important role in helping define and resolve those issues’
