Sarah Stocker previously worked at Tees as a paralegal in the Clinical Negligence team and after completing her training, she was invited to return as a solicitor. Sarah now handles a varied caseload of claims including: orthopaedics; bariatric and general surgery; delayed diagnoses; and cosmetic surgery, in which she is now specialising.

Isobel Foenander takes up her role this month, having qualified after working for the past two years as trainee solicitor at the firm. Isobel has spent the last six months training in the Clinical Negligence team, and has assisted on a range of complex claims at various stages of litigation, including adult and child brain injury, elderly care, birth injuries, orthopaedics and delayed diagnosis.

Tees’ Clinical Negligence team once again received a Top Tier ranking for East Anglia in the recent legal directory Legal 500 this year. It has corporate accreditation from the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is an approved solicitor for brain injury association Headway. Tees was also named the Personal Injury Firm of the Year last year in the Lawyer Monthly Legal Awards.

Two new paralegals Serena Tam and Caragh Hargreaves have also joined Tees’ growing Clinical Negligence team in Cambridge.

Executive partner Janine Collier said: ’Tees’ Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team is one of the most experienced and successful in East Anglia. We are proud to have recruited Sarah and Isobel – two very able and bright newly-qualified solicitors – to the team. They will help make a difference to the lives of people who’ve been affected by personal injury and medical negligence, many of whom suffer catastrophic, life-changing injuries.’

The Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team handles claims predominantly from across East Anglia and London, but also acts for people throughout the UK. The Personal Injury team deals with cases involving Road Traffic Accidents (including cycling accidents), work-related illness, public liability and all other aspects of personal injury. The Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team have worked on numerous successful cases of varying complexity over the past year, with the total damages awarded to clients topping £8 million.

Sarah Stocker said: ’I genuinely love my job and it’s a privilege to be working as part of a Top Tier team. Every day is different – I’ve been working in the clinical negligence field for nearly four years, but no two cases are ever the same. We all fight hard for our clients, for the compensation they need to rebuild their lives and also for the support, services or rehabilitation required before and after the conclusion of their claims.’

Isobel Foenander said: ’Thanks to the excellent training at Tees, I’ve developed the litigation skills to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients, with the support of a fantastically experienced and talented team. We understand how hard it can be for people to pursue claims – we aim to ensure that our clients feel confident and comfortable with our legal advice, right from the start. We are committed and passionate about helping people in what are often very difficult circumstances.’

Over the next few months Sarah and Isobel will be on secondment for one day per week for six weeks to work at patient safety charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA).
