Former City lawyer Jennifer Ison has been recognised by British businesswoman Jacqueline Gold CBE for her success as a female entrepreneur, and awarded with a prestigious #WOW badge.

Ison was one of three winners selected by Jacqueline after she entered ‘Women on Wednesday’ – a competition launched by Jacqueline in 2011 to celebrate the growing number of UK female entrepreneurs and businesswomen.

Ison worked for some 20 years as a lawyer starting out her career in the City at Norton Rose, followed by Baker McKenzie. A couple of years ago she started the petite womenswear brand Jennifer Anne fed up with the difficulties of finding smart clothes to fit her petite frame. Ison is passionate about providing a solution to women of 5’ 3” and under who want to look stylish and elegant.  The Jennifer Anne brand provides tailored clothes all designed and made in London with quality fabrics.

Ison said: ‘I am so delighted to have received this recognition from Jacqueline for my petite brand. Working as a lawyer I was disheartened by the lack of quality choice of clothing for the smaller woman. It is really rewarding to see how happy our petite customers are to have found a brand that puts them at its very heart with our range of beautiful, elegant and stylish clothes all designed and made in London.’

Gold says: ‘Jennifer Anne is a women’s online fashion retailer, catering to petite women of 5ft 3 and under. Jennifer saw her own struggles with shopping for her petite frame on the high street and turned that into an opportunity to create a brand which filled this gap in the market. Jennifer’s drive and passion for her clothes sets this company apart. I wish her every success in the future.

For me, #WOW is all about inspiring and celebrating female entrepreneurs. My vision is for women in the UK to come together, celebrate their strengths, skills and fantastic businesses, and do all that they can to inspire other women to realise their potential.’
