Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is pleased to announce that Erin Cleary and Erica S. Weisgerber have been named counsel and Samantha J. Rowe has been named international counsel to the firm. Their promotions become effective on 1 July 2017.

Erin Cleary, based in the New York office, is a member of the firm’s tax department and the investment management group. Her practice focuses on advising private equity and corporate clients on a broad range of M&A transactions, as well as advising sponsors on the formation of U.S. and international private equity funds. She received a J.D. magna cum laude from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in 2008, where she was a member of Order of the Coif, editor-in-chief of the Law Review and a recipient of the Alumni Senior Prize.

Samantha J. Rowe, based in the London office, is a member of the firm’s international dispute resolution group. Her practice focuses on international arbitration and public international law. Rowe is a solicitor of the senior courts of England and Wales, and is admitted to the New York Bar. She has notable experience in the mining and energy sectors, and regularly handles multi-billion-dollar disputes involving commercial and public international law issues across a variety of jurisdictions. Rowe is named by Who’s Who Legal (2016) in its Future Leaders list. She received her B.A. (Hons.) with First Class Honors in English Law and French Law from the University of Oxford, Wadham College, a Certificat Supérieur de Droit Français from the Université de Paris II Panthéon-Assas, and an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from New York University.

Erica S. Weisgerber, based in the New York office, is a member of the firm’s litigation department. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on antitrust and bankruptcy matters. Weisgerber’s antitrust practice includes private civil litigation, government review of proposed mergers and acquisitions, and counseling clients with respect to antitrust issues in a wide variety of commercial arrangements. Her bankruptcy experience includes a range of debtor and creditor representations and advising on restructuring-related issues. Weisgerber also is a 2012 and 2013 recipient of The Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Publico Award for outstanding service to The Legal Aid Society and its clients. Weisgerber received a J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 2008, where she was Order of the Coif and Managing Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. From 2009 to 2010, she clerked for the Hon. Joseph Bianco of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
