40 employees made redundant after RJW internal review
City-based trade union firm Russell Jones & Walker (RJW) has made 40 staff redundant, including ten lawyers, following an internal review by the firm's management board.
A spokesman said: 'Our management board has undertaken a detailed review of all areas of our business to further strengthen the firm, improve efficiencies, and deliver the best possible value to our clients.' He said the result included adopting new case-handling procedures and followed the successful trial of a digital dictation system within the firm.
RJW has 630 staff in total.
No partners are believed to face redundancy.
The review was instigated in response to the effect of changes to the civil procedure rules on the firm's high-volume personal injury work.
Jeff Zindani, a former RJW equity partner who left earlier this year to launch on-line PI practice Forum Law, said: 'This demonstrates how precarious the line is, for even big firms, between profit and loss with PI work.'
