I read with astonishment the article on finding the right professional indemnity insurer (see [2007] Gazette, 20 September, 12).
The article is written by a representative of a leading insurance broker. It says that 'no intermediary will get it right all the time' and that solicitors must ask a series of questions of their prospective insurer about its strength. Surely it is the job of insurance broker to ask these questions and obtain satisfactory answers? And I would expect my brokers to take responsibility for getting the questions and the answers right.
The article was entitled 'Covering your back'. An apt title indeed.
